Music plays an integral part in Heritage Christian School's philosophy of general education. It is this part that truly focuses on maturing the spirit of a person, for it is through creative expression that he communicates his innermost feelings to God and man. The Christian student learns that creative expression should be made, or acted out, to the glory of God and for the purpose of worshipping Him.Students beginning in 1st grade through 8th grade participate in choir twice a week. They learn proper vocal techniques as well as learning a wide variety of music. The HCS Choir may perform a Fall Mini-musical, Christmas Program and a Spring Musical in which attendance is required unless prior arrangements have been made with the music teacher and administrator. Choir is one of several class options for 7th and 8th grade students.
Students in 5th grade through 8th grade may also audition for selection to an HCS vocal group, Select Ensemble.
Band is offered to students in 4th grade through 8th grade. The HCS band program's goal is to prepare students to participate in high school band. Students are required to practice daily. This class is offered one to three times a week. Various ensembles may be offered as time and interest dictate. Particip
ation in scheduled school concerts is required.
Throughout the year students perform at various churches in the area in an effort to minister locally and gain support for our school. This is not required, but is a valuable experience for our students.
